Your eyes awaken as you look over at your alarm clock. 8:00am never looked good, especially with the annoying buzzer you’ve set it on every morning. You don’t really have a choice. The sound of your alarm doesn’t excite you, it repulses you. You don’t like the job that you work at, you’re not sure if you’re in the right school program, you’re at a loss and you’re not sure who can help you.
In the last year I’ve dedicated my life to Kingpin Social. This time that I’ve dedicated has been a roller coaster of emotion; wanting to stay, wanting freedom, wanting more money, wanting less rules. I was born the oldest of 5 siblings. The father figure of mine wasn’t around often. My freedom was something that I always learned to value when I was younger.
For this reason it was always hard for me to work for somebody else. I tried construction jobs and lasted months at best. I can remember waking up at 6:00am, getting stoned and driving to work attempting to take myself out of consciousness and into a trance. I didn’t want to be present while I was at work. I hated my job, it didn’t make me feel good. I was over worked, under paid and my boss was a dick.
Working for Kingpin Social has taught me one valuable lesson that I count myself blessed at the age of 20 to know. No job that you find will be perfect. You will never have everything that you want in an employer; even if you become the employer. There are always other people that work with you that throw a wrench in your vision of a perfect workplace. There’s one thing that wins over any potential work related issue, any money related issue, any employer – employee dispute.
I mean the kind of love where you wake up excited to go to work. On the drive over your brain storms with ideas about how to make your work better, about how to finish your projects faster. I believe in developing relationships with everything. A relationship is based off of an exchange of value. Value is based on emotion. That means you go to work, give work your time and your energy and make your boss happy. But wait… what does work give you? Does your time and energy invested into work make you feel good, or leave you drained of energy at the end of the day?
I truly believe that you can get paid for anything. Are you an artist? Figure out a way that you can sell your art. A writer? Get paid to do articles for newspapers, or start your own blog. A singer? Open a studio and teach youth how to teach. Any product or business you’re thinking of starting can be started. It’s about taking the thought that you have inside of your head and putting it on paper, making it a reality. The truth is this: life is about feeling good. It doesn’t matter how much money you have, what kind of car you drive, what position you can put on your office door. When you get home and you crawl into bed do you feel good? Are you happy with the path that you’ve decided for your life? Have you found a way to build a relationship with something that you love?
Working for Kingpin Social has been a roller coaster of events positive and negative. The thing that made me stick it through was the fact that Kingpin Social makes me feel good. I wake up earlier and earlier in the morning in an attempt to get started with my day sooner. I get to create my dream and along the way make others aware that they can do the same with theirs. In this world of emotion are you embracing your right to feel love or are you settling for satisfied?
